What to Expect

Tech Dome Penang is an interactive science discovery center located in the Geodesic Dome of KOMTAR in George Town. With over 120 hands-on exhibits spanning 40,000 square feet, the center aims to spark curiosity in science and technology for children and young adults.


What You'll Find Inside

Instead of just reading about science, visitors can get a firsthand look at how things work through interactive panels, physical models, and visual displays. The center features several galleries, including:

  • Information Technology
  • Life Tech
  • Robotics
  • Optics
  • Electro-Magnetism
  • Forces and Motion

There's also a Children's Exploration Zone and a special gallery called the Penang Transformation Story.


PIXO Observatory

One of the main highlights is the PIXO Observatory, which houses two powerful telescopes. The first is the Officina Stellare Pro RC 400, the most powerful telescope in Penang, and the second is the Lunt 152mm Solar Telescope, which is specifically designed for safe viewing of the sun. The observatory allows visitors to learn about stars, galaxies, and our solar system from astronomers.


Tech Dome Penang's mission is to inspire future generations to pursue science and technology and help solidify Penang's reputation as a regional hub for innovation. It's a place where learning comes to life, encouraging exploration and discovery for the whole family.
